AZERBAIJAN: International airport is built in Gabala.
The new airport meets all the international standards. The runway is 3600 metres long and 60 metres wide. The taxiway area is about 26,000 square metres. The airport is able to handle aircrafts weighing up to 400 tons. The airport apron area is 100,000 square metres.
In Gabala airport there were created all the conditions for efficient operation of air safety, customs and border service offices. The airport is equipped with modern security system. Check-in counters and VIP lounge are furnished with state-of-the-art equipment. The second floor of the airport features a big restaurant.
The capacity of Gabala international airport is 200 passengers per hour.
Gabala is one of the most ancient cities of Azerbaijan. It is mentioned in the works of antique historians of the 1st century, and within 600 years it used to be the capital of ancient Caucasian Albania. It was also part of Shirvanshakh state and Sheki khanate. In the vicinity of Gabala there are numerous historical and architectural monuments, including the ruins of a 2000-year old urban settlement.
Gabala is a unique locality of Azerbaijan surrounded by the Caucasus summits. The area is rich in relict walnut and chestnut forests.
