ARMENIA: Gegard-Garni tourist route in Armenia will become more comfortable

Armenia improves the territories of its main tourist attractions. The repair works carried out on the sections of Yerevan-Garni- Gegard highway exposed to mudslide will enable to bring the tourist route in line with international standards.

Armenian inbound tourist industry is represented mostly by historical and cultural tourism which also paves the way for ecotourism and adventure tourism. In 2008 Armenia hosted 600,000 tourists. Gegard and Garni were included in majority of the itineraries round Armenia.

Gegard monastery complex - a unique architectural construction inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List - is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Armenia. Nearby Garni is renowned for the 1st-century pagan temple whose ruins have been magnificently restored in the recent years.
